First Sino-Japanese War – What Was The Benefit Of Japan’s Modernization?

Japan had more power over the water since they are centered in the middle of the water. They had more attack lines with Russia only having a couple.

Around 1894 is a tough time. Both Japan and China want to control Korea power and overtake them. The Qing Empire of China and the Empire of Japan began fighting over Korea in late 1894.  For six straight months they continued fighting over the control of Korea. Japan had had continuous successful land and naval attacks and even gained control of China’s port Weihaiwei. Because of the Meiji Restoration that Japan had just started, China’s attempts to modernize had been proven unsuccessful. China’s government then sued for peace in 1895. Now  because of the results of this war, the East Asia dominance is not China anymore. Japan is now seen as the regional dominance in East Asia. China’s tradition started and is continuing to suffer after losing Korea to Japan.
